Similar Diversity
Similar diversity is an information graphic made by Philipp Steinweber and Andreas Koller. It is a visualization of the Holy Books of five world religions (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism). The visual is based on a text analysis of the different Holy scripts. The communalities and differences between the religions are translated through the graphic language of shapes, lines, typography and colours. The arc visual that is shown in the picture below shows the 41 most popular words. The size of their names and the size of the arc’s represent the wordcount in all the texts. Thus the bigger and more striking means the more these words are found in the scripts. The colours show the frequency of that particular word in one of the Holy books and the grey lines in the upper part connect similarities between different names. The bar charts below show more detailed information about the activities of the characters. This visual results in new insights between different religions, defenitely when you see how they are all connected to each other. It is realised with Processing and VVVV.
