Music Videos as Art

I was very happy to see that ARoS has just opened a new exhibition showcasing the works of five of the best music video directors of our time. This is soo cool and a brave move, since music videos are an integral part of modern pop culture, and in many of its representations has little to do with real art. But these directors are indeed artists and it’s great to see that ARoS appreciates this and creates a truly contemporary exhibition with their works.
The only thing I am missing is a better marketing of the exhibition – A video installation deserves an interactive presentation with visual teasers of the exhibition, doesn’t it?
The exhibit will show how new music generates new imagery in the borderland between promotion, art and film and the participating artists are: Anton Corbijn, Chris Cunningham, Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze and Mark Romanek. Wooho!
