OFFF 09

Back from Lisbon and the OFFF festival. Three days of post-digital creation culture, as they call it. There is still a lot to wish concerning the conference arena, the audiobility for the visitors, and the speakers abilty to make interesting and professional presentations… but this is not a bitching blog. Big thumbs up for Digital Kitchens presentation, talking about the creation of the True Blood intro sequence, and Stefan Sagmeisters talk on Design and Happiness. (Check out his site Things I have learned in my life so far!) 

Being a female designer and animator I still think there are way too few women represented among the featured artist. Out of 55 artist, I could spot 4! And this can not be because there are no skilled chics out there. What about Nagi Noda, Carolina Melis and Raquel Falkenbach to mention a few?!  If the festival has as a goal to represent the “post-digital digital culture” I think they forgot that half of the popultaion might be a part of it. (I guess this ended up being a bitching blog anyway…)
