Science Theater
STUPID has once more made the graphics for a piece of science theater – this time it is the show Nano where you can learn all about the smallest parts of the world and the research in the field. Nano had premiere yesterday, but there alot of possibilities for you to see it on their tour the coming week.
UbuWeb
I found a treasure filled with short artfilm! UbuWeb is a completely independent resource dedicated to all strains of the avant-garde, ethnopoetics, and outsider arts. They present dozens of avant-garde films & videos for your viewing pleasure. Oldies but goldies – still a big source of inspiration.
The Sleepy Revolution
During the days I´m not farting at the office, I´m working on a short animated film called The Sleepy Revolution together with my friend, historian and writer Johanne Fronth-Nygren. The film gives us the history of sleep in about 9 minutes. Well, not really, it´s mostly about the period around the 1800th century where our way of sleeping radically changed. Yes, sleep has a history, and a quite fascinating one. Did you for example know that we 400 years ago slept in two blocks – the first and the second sleep with one hour awake in the middle of the night? The film is slowly on it´s way and produced by ZigZag animation.
Return Of The Real
Happy happy, joy joy! CPH:DOX is back again for the fifth time, November 9-18th . The Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, is the largest documentary film festival in Scandinavia and a great orgie of documentaryfilms, masterclasses, concerts, and parties. Check out the programme, it´s good and it´s huge…
I Saw The Sign
Finally you can find your way to the STUPID office without getting lost. The signs are up and looking good. Come and visit!
Learning To Love You More
Learning to Love You More is a web site that makes you feel good. It presents a series of works made by the general public in response to assignments given by artists Miranda July (director of the film You and Me and Everyone We Know) and Harrell Fletcher. You can see great examples of work on assignments like the one above: Make an encouraging banner or Make a flyer of your day or Make a child´s outfit in adult size. Generally funny and inspiring photo´s of work from people all over the world. The internet at it´s best!

Which one is your favorite?
Kolla!

Is Denmark better than Sweden in producing great graphic design? Being a Swede living and working in Denmark, I´d rather stay unpartial… Judge yourself and go and see the Kolla!-exhibition at Form och Design Center in Malmö. Kolla! is the yearly competition in graphic design an illustration for proffessionals and students in Sweden. It´s usually an inspiring exhibition showing what´s hot and what´s not. The exhibition will run 26th of ctober – 18th of November. And it´s for free!
Radicalized
Last year I made the animated documentary shortfilm Radicalized (Tillväxtsjukan) based on an inteview with my mother who got allergic to stress a couple of years ago. It´s a film about the societys blind craving for progress and effectivity and my mothers generation of double-working women. If you are heading for Berlin you can see the film at Interfilm Short Film Festival, which will take place from November 6th – 11h, 2006, or if you rather go to New York you can see it there on November 15th where The Scandinavia House are hosting an evening called New Short Films from Sweden.
Persepolis
Persepolis, the great French-language graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi, is now also an animated film – screened tomorrow at Cinemateket in Copenhagen. Go and see! It´s a story that describes Marjanes childhood in Iran after the revolution and the film won the Cannes Jury Prize 2007. There is also an Persepolis-exhibition at Cinemateket until the 4th of November where you can see drawings from the film.
The Creating Human
Are we born creative? And for whom are we to be creative and innovative? For the state or the society? For our own sake? And what is creativity?
This and many other questions are treated when Center for Kunst og Videnskab is putting up the play Det Skabende Menneske (The Creating Human) Thursday 27. September at Festsalen in Odense Rådhus (Flakhaven 2, 5000 Odense C).
STUPID have made the poster and program and we are looking forward to see the play!
Martin Parr

If you happen to have your way pass Stockholm, you now have the chance to see an excellent retrospective exhibition with the british photographer Martin Parr at Kulturhuset. This is a man with a great sense of humor and an eye for the absurdity in modern daily life. If your’e hungry for more cultural input there are a lot of other interesting exhibitions in the field of graphic design and photography at Kulturhuset at the moment – all for free! Many good reasons to go to Stockholm in other words…
