Super16

Super16 is a community of young upcoming filmmakers in Copenhagen, Denmark. The work they are doing is mind blowing, but they really needed a brand and digital presence to amplify their voice and reach.

We joined forces and designed a powerful and vibrant visual identity and a brand new website to carry their works forward.

Identity

Content is king – well in this scenario anyway. Working with the fantastic imagery created by the talented students at Super16, we created a minimalistic identity based on a simple logo and a clean typographic language to keep the focus on what’s important: The films.

UX design

When sketching and laying out the visual approach for the website we pursued the look and feel of a movie-poster. Using the strong typography from the identity process, every navigational element was based on typographical principles to maximize the contrasting impact from the video content.

By really developing subtle and smooth transitions and animations, the user would experience the two content types merged fluidly into one organism.

Using font sizes based on the width of a sentence was the overall conceptual take on the typography – meaning an offset and uncontrollable hierarchy of text sizes that in the end created a unique and recognizable look throughout the website.

One size fits all

A visit to the Super16 page is a visual experience of film craft and raw talent. This experience we wanted to capture across devices, so when the site was viewed on smaller screens, the user would still feel the quality and raw talent of the Super16 team.
